OLD MINE CUT: An antique gemstone cut dating back to the 1700s. Features a rounded square silhouette similar to the modern cushion-cut, but conforms to the shape of the rough gemstone in order to preserve the weight. The culet is usually large enough to be easily seen through the table of the diamond.

Color Grade I-J: Near-colorless

Clarity VS1-VS2: Very slightly included. Inclusions are observed with effort under 10x magnification, but can be characterized as minor.

BRILLIANT: A gemstone cut to enhance brilliance without sacrificing much carat weight. Typically has 58 facets.

SYNTHETIC SAPPHIRE: A gemstone that is created in a laboratory to mimic the actual properties of a natural sapphire. Commonly known as "created sapphire," it features the same deep color and transparent sparkle, but is significantly more affordable than a sapphire found in nature.

MARQUISE: An elliptical shape that comes to a point at the top and bottom. Sometimes referred to as a "navette."
